If you're hosting an event, such as a HVAC Warehouse conference, one of the first things you must do is find a venue. A venue is the location at which your event is held, so you need to make sure that the location you choose is appropriate for the type of event you're hosting. If you're not quite sure which type of venue is the right one for your event, here's an outline of the types of venues that are commonly available and the types of events that are usually hosted in them.

Convention Centers

Convention centers are multipurpose buildings specifically designed for event hosting. They usually have their own catering staff and a variety of rooms in different sizes, so convention centers can be appropriate for anything from a real estate broker's convention to a fund raising dinner. Generally they are not appropriate for sporting events or concerts, however.

Hotels

Many hotels, especially the upscale ones, have ballrooms and conference rooms available to rent. You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to have your event there, but if everyone is traveling in from their home to your event, it's a good idea to host at a hotel as you can get special rates. They're appropriate for business meetings, small conventions, wedding receptions, and family parties.

Church Halls and Gyms

If you're wedding party is small enough, couples can host their receptions in their lofts. Some couples generally need more space than that, though, so they often rent church halls for their receptions. You can also host sporting events, sales, teas, get-togethers, charity events, and small concerts in church halls. Many of them come equipped with kitchens, stages, and stored sporting equipment.

Arenas

If you're planning a hockey tournament for your area, the arena is the one place where there's enough open space (and the ability to make ice). Other events that are often held at areas include concerts, larger trade shows, and other sporting events.

Parks

Outdoor events add a certain elegance to the proceedings, but are notoriously difficult to plan because of weather concerns. Events that usually take place in tents or under the sky in the park include rallies and weddings.

Theaters

If you're planning a concert, a play, or even a lecture or a business presentation, theaters are the best equipped venues because they come equipped with stages, screens, projectors, and plenty of seating for a rapt audience.
