The Wood Fair takes place on August 25th 2012.
...Enjoy the magic of wood!

Lots to see!

The wood fair is a joint venture between the Glengarry Pioneer Museum and the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Certified Forest Owners Inc. and Boisés Est. Wood has been a huge ingredient in the lives of Pioneers and the shaping of this country. The Glengarry Wood Fair and Wood Auction will showcase all aspects of forestry and the crafting of wood products then and now. Discuss tree planting a woodlot with forestry professionals, or watch demonstrations of all the wood arts from turner and carver to timber framer or the chainsaw carver. Travel back in time and view the Glengarry Pioneer Museum's collection of antique wood handling and crafting tools.

The fair has three primary objectives:

  • To serve as an outlet for wood artisans to showcase the beautiful artwork they create;
  • To serve as an outlet for woodlot owners to sell their wood and learn about forest stewardship;
  • To promote and attract new visitors to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum.
  • barn

    The Glengarry Pioneer Museum is a beautiful backdrop for the event; situated in the rural hamlet of Dunvegan, the museum is home to nine heritage log and timber frame buildings - a reminder of the importance wood has played in our history with the Wood Fair as a reminder of its continued importance to Canada's identity.
